In June 2019, the Government transferred from the National Bank of Ukraine to the management of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory part of the building on the street. Pukhivska, 7, in Kyiv. This contains the status of the State Archive of the UINP (abbreviated name - Archive of National Remembrance).

07.05.2020

A total of 11,000 square meters have been allocated. m. to create the largest in Europe archive of documents of the repressive bodies of the communist totalitarian regime of 1917-1991.

The team of the Archives of National Remembrance performed all the necessary procedures for the design of the premises, collected the necessary data for the design to begin reconstruction. As a result, in six months the Archive of National Remembrance received a positive expert report on the already developed project documentation.

Thanks to the joint work of archivists and designers, we managed to increase the total usable area of the future Archive by two thirds - from 11,000 square meters. m. to almost 17,500 sq m.

At the same time, after the Ukrainian Parlament approved amendments to the State Budget for 2020, the State Tax Inspectorate of the UINP withdrew all funds for the reconstruction of premises in the amount of UAH 57.6 million. Therefore, for some time the reconstruction of the building of the Archive of National Remembrance is paused.

The creation of Europe's largest archive of documents of the repressive bodies of the communist totalitarian regime of 1917-1991 is a top priority of the SA-UINP, so every effort is being made to restore funding.
