The working visit will last 5 days, the participants of the plenary sessions of the Platform of European Memory and Conscience will have to make a number of decisions on the direction of further activities and international cooperation.
Platform of European Memory and Conscience is a non-profit international non-governmental organization that explores the activities and crimes of totalitarian regimes in the twentieth century. In total, the Platform includes 68 institutions and organizations from 23 countries in Europe and North America.
This year, representatives of 48 institutions took part in the event. Events in Ukraine this time were in a special focus of those present.
In particular, Ukrainian journalist, UNIAN correspondent Dmytro Khylyuk, who is currently in russian captivity, received the Platform's award. By an absolute majority, the delegates of the meeting supported the candidacy of Dmitry. The award for the captured media worker was received by his colleague, UNIAN correspondent Tetiana Polyakovska, who will give it to the journalist's parents.
This prize is awarded to a person or persons fighting against totalitarianism, for the ideals of democracy, fundamental human rights and freedoms and the rule of law. The winner of the award can be any country in the world. The Platform Prize should support its winners in their struggle, help protect them from persecution and promote international publicity of their cause.
Khylyuk was nominated for this award by Ukrainian institutions that are members of the Platform: the National Museum of the Holodomor-Genocide, the Center for Research on the Liberation Movement, the State Archive of the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance and the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance itself.
