In June of 2019 we emerged as a separate State Institution and have been making the first steps for 6 months. Now we have a lot of achievements.

    The Archive of the National Memory is an archive of the past for the future. We set ourselves an ambitious goal – to preserve the evidence of crimes of totalitarian Communist regime and to provide these sources with free access for everyone. We also keen on destroying the myths about the archive as an institution with dusty piles of papers on the shelves, where bored staff sit in the dim light.

     Open space, co-working, comfortable rooms for work with documents and presentations, modern search engines, a powerful digitizing, the opportunity to plunge into the atmosphere of the past – this is not a complete list of benefits we plan to offer everyone. We expect a lot of visitors, because access to previously secret documents of former Communist secret services and other repressive bodies is now open to all citizens. It is international practice. The countries of East Central Europe who survived the horrors of the Communist totalitarian regime also have such archives. In their documents coexist truth, lies, and provocation. We learn to distinguish between them in order counteract threats to national security of Ukraine in our days. Because the methods of Russian aggression have literally unchanged over the centuries. Therefore, we define our fate: sometimes the destiny of man, generation and even statehood.

     So we are waiting for friendly conversation. Let’s grow together. In this way free and powerful Ukraine will appear by both our efforts and efforts of other readers of this page consciously getting rid of errors and stereotypes of the past!
